EO3 A Full Spectrum Recovery Drink, By Marie Spano MS, RD, CSCS, CSSD
EO3 Offers a Plethora of Benefits
EO3 was formulated for athlete training and recovery. With 20 grams of protein, omega-3 fatty acids, naturally occurring antioxidant polyphenols and other nutrients, EO3 provides key ingredients athletes need to maximize recovery and perform their best.
Benefits of Omega-3s
There are 3 main types of omega-3 fatty acids. EPA and DHA are found in algae and fish and are very unique. EPA and DHA help support health and athletic performance several ways:
- High dose of omega-3 supplements may help decrease muscle loss when you are immobilized (in a cast or sling, on bed rest etc.).
- Muscle recovery – EPA and DHA are incorporated into cell membranes (including muscle cell membranes) where they make membranes more elastic, flexible and less prone to damage. They also influence membrane functioning. EPA and DHA can help reduce excess muscle soreness after muscle-damaging exercise (effects seem to be greater in those who do not eat fish regularly). They can also improve muscle functioning in older adults (likely due to a decrease in inflammation).
- Brain – EPA and DHA protect the DHA is the major fat found in the brain and important for brain development and function. DHA helps reduce inflammation. When taken prophylactically before a concussion EPA and DHA may decrease the damaging effects of a concussion. EPA and DHA may also improve recovery if taken after a concussion.
- Joint health – Omega-3 supplements may benefit joint health by decreasing The research is particularly strong in those with rheumatoid arthritis.
- Mood – in several studies, symptoms of depression were reduced in those who took EPA and DHA compared to a This combination may also help decrease symptoms of anxiety.
- Heart and blood vessel health – EPA may be protective against heart attacks and strokes. EPA and DHA can help decrease triglycerides (fat in the blood), increase HDL-cholesterol (your good cholesterol), improve blood vessel functioning, reduce inflammation and may lead to a small decrease in blood pressure.
It is important to consume omega-3 regularly as it can take several weeks for it to make a difference.
Despite the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids, 95% of Americans are not getting enough EPA and DHA and deficiency is also very common in athletes. Typical side effects from fish oil supplement include burping a fishy taste leading to poor compliance. However, you won’t have to worry about this with E03. The fish oil in is micro-encapsulated with protein and emulsified with antioxidant rich, natural fruit juices which prevents oxidation so you won’t get any fish burps, reflux or fishy smell.
Protein For Muscle, tendons and ligaments
EO3 combines whey protein with collagen. Whey protein is one of the highest-quality protein sources available. This means it not only contains all of the building blocks to help build muscle but is easy to digest and use those building blocks.
Protection with Polyphenols
Polyphenols are plant-based compounds that protect the body from damage and also stimulate the production of nitric oxide, a short-lived gas that opens up blood vessels for greater blood flow throughout the body including to working muscles. EO3’s polyphenols are naturally occurring from apple, pear and blackcurrant juice concentrate as well as black cumin oil.
Nutrients for Athletes
E03 contains vitamin D, vitamin E and iodine. Many athletes and people, in general, are low in vitamin D and few foods contain this nutrient. Though our bodies can make vitamin D when exposed to the sunlight research studies show many people who live in sunny climates have low levels of vitamin D in their body.
Vitamin D is important for strong bones. In addition, higher levels of vitamin D in the body are associated with decreased incidence and severity of upper respiratory tract infections. Vitamin E is also a vitamin that is considered widely under consumed although food survey data may underestimate intake of this nutrient. As an antioxidant, vitamin E helps protect the body from damage. Vitamin E is also important for immune health, gene expression and other metabolic processes. Iodine is essential for thyroid functioning.
You Can’t Beat the Convenience of E03
From my experience as a practitioner, it’s clear that many athletes have a tough time taking supplements in the form of capsules or pills. For one thing, many have difficulty swallowing large pills and some worry about them getting stuck in their throat. Because EO3 is a liquid it circumvents this issue and greatly improves compliance.
It’s also common for athletes to struggle to get adequate amounts of protein at regular intervals throughout the day. Some athletes do not space out their protein intake at regular meals and snacks because they do not want to take the time to sit down and eat. Or, they simply can’t be bothered with making a protein shake. Since EO3 is in a ready-to-drink format you can grab it and go. EO3 also has a mild taste unlike some ready-to-drink protein shakes that are super sweet.
If you’re looking for a convenient way to improve your nutrition intake and support athletic performance and recovery, pick up EO3 today and enjoy the benefits.
